Why this exists
Ken Compton is not a software developer who decided home inspection was an underserved market. He is a home inspector who built a company, ran it for thirteen years — thirteen full-time inspectors, five schedulers, and support staff across three divisions — and then spent years helping other inspectors try to do the same thing.
He knows what works because he did it. He knows what doesn’t work because he helped enough inspectors fix it to understand the problem.
Booked Solid Inspector exists because the problem was always the same: inconsistent marketing to keep the schedule full, and no effective way to get the phone answered. Booked Solid does both.

Southern Home Inspection Services was founded in Atlanta in 1997. Ken ran it for thirteen years — building it to thirteen full-time inspectors, five schedulers, and support staff across three divisions: Residential Resales, New Construction, and EIFS. When he sold it, he had built the kind of inspection business most inspectors describe when they explain what they are trying to do.
Then he spent sixteen years doing group and individual coaching through The Savvy Inspector — working with hundreds of one-man shops and small firms across the country, watching the same problems surface in the same sequence, and helping owners work through them one at a time.
The problem
Ken saw this pattern across hundreds of coaching clients. The details varied. The problems didn’t.
1. Inconsistent marketing.
When they were marketing, they weren’t inspecting. When they were inspecting, they weren’t marketing. Their income graph looked like a roller coaster — feast one month, scramble the next. They never figured out how to keep both running at once.
2. No effective way to handle the phone.
If he was a one-man shop, he answered it himself because he believed nobody did it better. Call centers existed, but he didn’t trust them or couldn’t justify the cost. Multi-inspector firms didn’t fare much better — recruiting, hiring, and training a scheduler was hard. Once trained, they quit for a better-paying job with benefits. Quality was inconsistent. They didn’t work evenings or weekends. The calls that came in after hours went unanswered.
3. Inspectors did not market to their prior clients.
The people who already knew him, liked him, and trusted him got nothing. No follow-up. No newsletter. No reason to remember his name when a friend mentioned they were buying a house. He spent every marketing dollar trying to convince a stranger, while his best referral source sat untouched.
4. Inspectors did not market to their agents effectively or consistently.
So the next inspector who walked through the office door got the referrals. Not because he was better — because he showed up and the previous inspector didn’t.
The coaching at The Savvy Inspector fixed those problems one inspector at a time. Booked Solid Inspector is the same solution, built into a system that runs without the inspector having to manage it.
Why he built this instead of doing something else
When Ken sold Southern Home Inspection Services, he could have retired from inspection entirely. He moved into coaching because the same questions kept coming from inspectors he knew — and he had answers that came from doing the thing, not theorising about it.
Founded and built from scratch into a firm of thirteen full-time inspectors, five schedulers, and support staff — three divisions, thousands of inspections. Learned what it takes to build a company in this industry, not just do the work.
Group and individual coaching for home inspectors across the country. Sixteen years, hundreds of clients, the same four problems every time — and the same fixes.
A digital marketing agency built specifically for home inspectors. Still running today.
The system built from everything above — packaged so it runs without the inspector having to manage it piece by piece.
What he won’t tell you
He spent too many years watching inspectors get sold guaranteed results that depended on factors nobody could control. The market, the agents, the buyer pool, the competition in a specific town — none of those are in the system.
What the system controls is whether the phone gets answered, whether the review gets asked for, whether the agent hears from you before she stops thinking about you, and whether the client who liked you has a reason to remember you. Those are the inputs. He knows from thirty years of evidence that they produce better outcomes than not doing them. He won’t tell you exactly which outcomes, because he doesn’t know your market.
That is what honest looks like from someone who has been in this business long enough to know the difference.
Thousands of inspections. Hundreds of coaching clients.
Not from a brochure. Not from a theory. From an inspector who built the business, ran it for thirteen years, helped hundreds of other inspectors work through the same problems, and then built the system he wished he’d had when he started.
