When you join, the customers and agents you already have come with you. This page is the whole of what that means: what we take, what we will not take, and what happens to it once it is in.
There is no drag-and-drop box, and that is deliberate. As part of your setup we pull the list out of your current system ourselves — ISN, Spectora, whatever you use — so it arrives clean, complete and dated. It is one of the things White Glove setup is for.
| Who | How far back |
|---|---|
| Your past clients | The last twelve months, by the date you last inspected for them |
| Your referring agents | The last twelve months, by the date they last sent you work |
Three things per person, and the third is the one people forget:
Why twelve months and not everything? Someone you inspected for three years ago does not remember your name. An email out of nowhere gets marked as spam — and that mark lands on the same sending reputation as your booking confirmations, your reminders and your reports. A list that is too generous is a way to stop your own transactional email arriving.
Twelve months is far enough back to be worth having and recent enough that people know who you are.
Any list that is not your own past customers. Bought, rented, scraped from a directory, downloaded from a Facebook group, handed to you by someone else, or lifted from a brokerage roster you are not part of.
This is not us being difficult. Emailing people who never dealt with you is how a sending domain gets blocked — and once it is blocked, every other inspector on the platform feels it too, because we share the reputation. It is also the fastest way for you to end up on the wrong side of a complaint.
This is what you are agreeing to when you tick the box on the sign-up page:
“Any client or agent list I provide is my own past customers, and I have the right to email them. I will not provide a purchased, scraped or borrowed list.”
Nobody on your imported list is ever asked for a review. They already got that ask from your old system when the job finished — once or not at all. Asking a second time, a year late, is the thing that makes a business look automated. So we skip it entirely for imported people. Only jobs booked from the day you go live get a review request.
And nobody on your imported list is ever texted. Not once. Everything they receive from us is email. Text messages are for you — the alert when a booking comes in — not for your customers.
Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and an unsubscribe is honoured immediately and permanently. If somebody marks a message as spam, they come off too, without anyone having to notice.
If your list starts producing more complaints than it should, we will come and talk to you about it before it becomes a problem — for you or for anyone else on the platform.
You can start with nothing. Bringing a list is optional. If you would rather begin fresh with the jobs Josh books from your go-live date, say so and that is what happens. The tick box is about what you may provide, not a promise that you will.
